SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/10/09 -- Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the IT infrastructure performance company for networks, applications and storage, today announced its participation at Interop New York 2009 taking place November 16-20, 2009 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. Riverbed® industry expert will lead conference discussions regarding IT infrastructure and private cloud performance, the impact of IT virtualization on applications and networks and the competitive landscape of WAN optimization solutions. Additionally, Emile Rashkovich, chief information officer of Riverbed customer Sentinel Real Estate Corporation, will participate in the CIO Boot Camp to provide strategies for surviving the current economic environment. To provide additional insight on Riverbed WAN optimization solutions and benefits, Riverbed customers will present their real-world cloud performance results at the Riverbed booth during expo hours.

Interop provides a forum to discuss powerful innovations and solutions the industry has to offer. The conference includes in-depth educational programs, workshops, real-world demonstrations and live technology implementations. Attendees can stop by the Riverbed booth (#321) to learn how Riverbed IT infrastructure performance solutions accelerate application performance and data transfer for remote offices, data centers and mobile workers. Enterprises leverage Riverbed WAN optimization products to improve remote and mobile employee productivity, enable consolidation and private clouds, and provide enterprise-wide network and application visibility, all while eliminating the need to increase bandwidth, storage or servers. Nearly 7,000 customers, across a wide range of markets, have implemented Riverbed WAN optimization solutions in their geographically dispersed organizations.

Customers Share Riverbed WAN Optimization Experiences

Within the Riverbed booth, attendees will hear from customers, such as law firm Turner Padget Graham & Laney P.A., who will discuss its Riverbed WAN optimization solution deployment.

Emile Rashkovich, chief information officer of Sentinel Real Estate Corporation, will participate in the CIO Boot Camp and will discuss how Sentinel Real Estate Corporation deployed 150 Steelhead® appliances to support a US-wide IT consolidation/private cloud effort. As a result, Sentinel employees working in dispersed offices are able to more efficiently collaborate due to the dramatic improvements in application performance. "Riverbed's pioneering WAN optimization solutions are well established to help enterprises in distributed environments like ours," said Rashkovich. "Sentinel has experienced dramatic performance gains and much faster download times that not only helped justify our consolidation initiative to our c-suite but has also improved remote office staff productivity and client satisfaction."

CIO Boot Camp: The Need for Speed: How Sentinel is Driving Business Value and Dramatic Improvements in Employee Productivity

Who: Emile Rashkovich, senior vice president and chief information officer, Sentinel Real Estate Corporation

Apurva Davé, senior director, product marketing, Riverbed

When: Tuesday, Nov. 17, 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Where: Room 1E17

Why: Emile Rashkovich, senior vice president and chief information officer at Riverbed customer Sentinel Real Estate, will discuss the consolidation of Sentinel's infrastructure into a private cloud deployment across more than 150 offices in the United States. Sentinel experienced a dramatic performance improvement across a broad range of applications including Yardi, a Web-based, real estate asset and property management application used for managing most of Sentinel's properties. The presentation will provide details on how Riverbed WAN optimization solutions enabled the company to avoid costly bandwidth upgrades and cut its monthly communications bill in half while Sentinel employees working in dispersed offices are able to more efficiently collaborate due to the dramatic improvements in application and IT infrastructure performance.

Riverbed Drives Discussions on IT Infrastructure and Cloud Performance

Conference keynotes and sessions will focus on an integrated view of IT solutions that will help increase productivity and profitability while cutting costs and improving services. A Riverbed executive will lead discussions at several conference sessions:

Conference Session: A Comparison of WAN Optimization Controllers

Who: Apurva Davé, senior director of product marketing, Riverbed

When: Thursday, Nov. 19, 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Where: Room 1E07

What: The vast majority of enterprise users work in branch offices or work remotely and access applications over a relatively low-speed, high-latency wide-area network (WAN). This use of the WAN causes many applications to perform badly. To mitigate the impact of the WAN on application performance, many vendors have developed a solution referred to as a WAN Optimization Controller (WOC). In this PowerPoint-free session, leading WOC vendors will be asked questions to identify the similarities and differences between their products.

Conference Session: The Impact of IT Virtualization on Applications and Networks

Who: Apurva Davé, senior director of product marketing, Riverbed

When: Thursday, Nov. 19, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Where: Room 1E07

What: Virtualization is not new. What is new is the great interest in deploying server, storage and desktop virtualization. While each of these forms of virtualization can provide significant business value, each has the potential to significantly complicate the task of ensuring acceptable application performance. In this session, vendors from different areas of IT will identify network technologies, designs and best practices that enable IT organizations to enjoy the benefits of virtualization without enduring the potential pitfalls.
