Sentinel Real Estate Corp. Adopts Citrix Access Infrastructure as Corporate Standard

Citrix’s Centralized Computing Approach Makes It Possible for Only Seven IT Staff to Manage Applications for 2,000 Employees

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. » 9/13/2004 » Citrix Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced that Sentinel Real Estate Corp., among the nation’s largest institutional real estate asset managers, is centrally managing its business-critical applications with Citrix® MetaFrame® Presentation Server. This server-based computing approach enables just seven Sentinel IT staff to support 2,000 employees nationwide since they do not have to touch individual desktops in deploying and managing applications for the organization.

With 200 properties across the United States and nearly $5 billion in assets under its management, Sentinel directs client funds into pooled and separate account entities that purchase diversified portfolios of real estate. Needing to standardize its IT infrastructure and provide a direct link to headquarters, the New York City-based company chose Citrix access infrastructure for its unsurpassed resilience and flexibility, even during unforeseen disruptions such as fire or natural disasters. Citrix software allows Sentinel employees to continue working and avoid losing productivity through its ability to securely connect them to critical applications and information from any remote workplace, using any device or network connection. For this reason, as well as the improved IT staff efficiency, Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server has become the foundation for the organization’s IT infrastructure, providing cost-effective, easily managed access to the applications required for daily operations.

“Citrix access infrastructure lets us breathe easier, knowing that we have the systems in place to effectively and efficiently manage our IT operations,” said Emile Rashkovich, senior vice president and chief information officer for Sentinel Real Estate Corp.  “Not only does Citrix provide us with the anywhere, anytime access we need, but it has also allowed us to streamline our IT department while maintaining a consistently high level of support. Further, Citrix eliminates the need to back up the data previously stored at each of our sites by supplying remote access to the information and applications on our central servers.”

As the flagship product of the Citrix MetaFrame Access Suite, Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server is the world’s most widely deployed presentation server for centrally managing heterogeneous applications and delivering their functionality as a service to workers, wherever they may be. MetaFrame Presentation Server is certified to run on Microsoft® Windows Server™ 2003, Microsoft Windows® 2000 Server, and runs on a variety of UNIX® platforms from Sun Microsystems, IBM and Hewlett-Packard, and supports virtually any custom or commercially packaged Windows, Web, and UNIX application.
